November Update
November has been even more busy than October! We are ready to go for FDM this year, so make sure to bring your thinking caps to Hofstra on December 12th. We have also decided to run SDM (Spring District Meeting) with District 1N again this year, details yet to come. I also created an NYS FBLA Fall Newsletter, so take a look to get an idea of upcoming events.

As previously mentioned, I am on the Career and Development Committee. We really encourage people to do a program of work, and if you need more information on succeeding at the POW’s make sure to take a look at our Instagram page @NYSFBLA.

My FBLA chapter is getting ready for our inductions that are coming up, and we also reached out to a local Froyo Company, where we were able to hold a successful fundraiser.

If there are any problems at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me at svp1s@nys.org.

October Update
October has been a very active and productive month for FBLA! I’ve been organizing the Fall District Meeting (FDM), confirming schools attending, and ensuring Hofstra University can support our programs. I also submitted an article for the NYS FBLA Express, sharing updates on upcoming events.

On the Career and Development Committee, we are continuing to post tips on succeeding in the Program of Work, so please check out our Instagram @NYSFBLA!

My FBLA chapter successfully raised funds for the State Leadership Conference through a popcorn sale. We also participated in the annual Halloween Happening, where students handed out candy to the community, making it a fun and memorable event.

If there are any problems at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me at svp1s@nys.org.

September Update
I remember it being yesterday when I could sleep in on a Tuesday morning. But we are back to school folks, this month has been quite a hectic one for me, as I have been adjusting to school life and doing college applications.

In terms of FBLA, I have created my newsletter and registration packet for this year’s FDM meeting, again we will be holding it at Hofstra University on December 12, 2024, with District 1N. Hopefully, the workshops and important speakers will be a positive learning experience for you all.

As I am a part of the Career and Development Committee, we are creating more social media posts with tips on how to perform well in the Program of Work. We as a state officer team, strongly suggest that you participate in the Program of Works. We will also be posting about council applications soon, so please check out NYS FBLA on Instagram. If there are any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact me at svp1s@nys.org.

August Update
Wow, I can’t believe it’s already the end of August. This month has been both fun and busy. I’ve been balancing work, college applications, and spending time with my seniors before they head off to college.

For this year’s FDM, we will continue the long-standing tradition between District 1S and 1N, holding it together at Hofstra University on December 12, 2024. I hope this year’s FDM will provide everyone with an opportunity to succeed and learn, whether through our workshops or speakers.

I also worked with the Career and Development Committee to create informative social media posts explaining each Program of Work. I  encourage everyone to participate in these programs, as they are a true testament to your dedication to FBLA. Be sure to check out NYS FBLA on Instagram to be updated on what your state officers are doing. If there are any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact me at svp1s@nys.org.

July Update
Hello District 1S, I’m Akarsh Chilakala, and I’m really excited to be your District State Vice President this year! I’m a senior at Commack High School on Long Island, and I can’t wait to dive into this journey with all of you. A little about me—I love to swim  with my friends and I’m currently interested in investment banking.

FBLA has been a big part of my life and has shaped who I am today. It all started when a friend of mine shared his amazing experience at SLC, and I decided to see what FBLA was all about. From the first meeting, I knew this club was something special. To me, FBLA was able to create an environment where the balance between having fun and learning important life skills was possible, so I started this journey.

Over the last three years, I’ve competed in events like Business Ethics and Intro to FBLA, and I’ve had the opportunity to serve as Historian and Treasurer. Through these roles, I’ve learned how to speak confidently in front of others and how to be an effective leader—skills I know will stick with me forever.

As your District State Vice President, I’m here to support and inspire each of you on your FBLA journey. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to FBLA or have been around for a while, there’s a place for you here, and I’m excited to help you find it.

I’m looking forward to working together to make our district one of the best in New York State. Let’s make this year unforgettable and accomplish great things as a team!
