October Update
Hello New York State FBLA. I hope everyone is adjusted to our new school schedules and is having a great kickoff to the holiday season of School! It’s a great time to get back to being involved within their FBLA chapters.

I’d like to share a few ways you can get involved with FBLA at both the regional and state
levels! First, hopefully it is not too late to join your school’s FBLA chapter, and if your school doesn’t have one, feel free to reach out and I’d be happy to assist you in starting one! Make it a point to attend all meetings and confirm that you are properly registered as a member. Second, stay tuned for updates on your Fall District Meeting! If your region already had their FDM, reach out to your regional state officer with feedback! If your region hasn’t had their FDM yet, then keep an ear out for updates! This is a valuable opportunity to connect with peers from your region, gain insights from guest speakers, and even pick up some exciting giveaways. Additionally, the 2024-2025 NYS FBLA Program of Work is now available on our state website. Reviewing it early and getting a head start will give you a strong foundation to earn recognition at the State Leadership Conference, scheduled in Rochester April 9-11. Lastly, don’t miss the summer edition of the NYS FBLA Express report—be sure to check it out! And, as always, feel free to reach out to me at president@nysfbla.org with any questions, concerns or feedback.

August Update
Hello New York State FBLA. Hope everyone is having an easy time transitioning back into the school year. It can definitely be challenging sometimes — but FBLA season makes this time so much more exciting!

As previously mentioned, I am currently a rising senior at Commack HS on Long Island. However, regardless of your grade level, I wanted to share some ways to involve ourselves within FBLA at your regional and state level to help start the year strong. Firstly, make sure to join your school’s chapter’s FBLA club, and if you don’t have one, reach out and I’ll help you start one! Make sure to attend all meetings and ensure you are successfully registered as a member. Secondly, keep an eye out for your Fall District Meeting date and location, where you alongside your region will have an opportunity to network, listen to esteemed speakers and even take home some goodies. Finally, the 2024-2025 NYS FBLA Program of Works has been officially published on our state website! Definitely check those out and get an early start on them to be recognized at the State Leadership Conference (which will be held in Rochester, Ny throughout April 9-11th). Also, make sure to check out the summer edition of The FBLA Express.

I want to wish everyone good luck starting of a new school year, and as always, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at president@nysfbla.org.

July Update
Hello New York State FBLA – It feels good to be back!! My name is Manya Khatri, and I am officially serving as your state president this school year. I am a rising senior at Commack High School on Long Island, and I already know we are going to have such a successful year!

I’ve been a member of FBLA since freshman year, which has been one of the best decisions of my life. Over the past three years, I’ve competed and placed at both the State and National Leadership Conferences, served as chapter president, and last year ran for state office. My experience as District 1-S Vice President has prepared me well for my new role as State President, and I’m excited to kick off the year.

FBLA has given me more than just resume builders; it has offered invaluable opportunities to network, develop my soft skills, and be part of an organization that serves hundreds of thousands of members. The friendships and memories I’ve made in FBLA are truly surreal, and I look forward to the new experiences this year will bring. Meeting impressive and exceptional people who continue to inspire and guide me has been a significant benefit of my  involvement in FBLA. This organization has made me more ambitious and driven, opening my mindset to all the possibilities and heights I can achieve.

This year, I have many goals and ideas: First, I aim to rebrand and grow the NYS FBLA Instagram account, using it as a platform to keep members engaged year-round with creative and sophisticated content. I also plan to help establish new FBLA high school and middle school chapters within NYC and upstate by fundraising, providing grants, and guiding them through the process of forming a chapter. Additionally, I want to help members in those areas become more involved. On a personal level, I aim to grow my personal FBLA account to better network with members across the state (follow me:  @manyafbla!). I also want to be a supportive presence for my state office team, ensuring they are well and comfortable before expecting them to contribute. Having faced my own personal and professional challenges, I believe in leading by example and making sure my team is taken care of first.

It’s going to be an awesome year for NYS FBLA, and I can’t wait to get working. Definitely reach out to me at president@nysfbla.org with any questions or concern.
