September Update
Hello again New York State FBLA! It is Kayleigh Harney, your State Reporter. I hope everyone has had a nice start to their school year and is ready to get back to business!
I hope everyone is excited to kick off their year by attending their district’s Fall District Meeting (FDM). This is a great way to see all that FBLA has to offer and to get more deeply involved in the organization. In fact, it was at my first FDM that I decided I wanted to run for a state position, maybe you will get inspired to do the same! FDM is also a great way to network and make connections with other Future Leaders!
Also, please consider participating in our Program of Work (POW) challenges this year. They are super fun and an asset in the Career and Technical Education aspect of FBLA. The State Officer Team is looking forward to reviewing everyone’s submissions!
This October, please submit any articles with updates from your chapter to be featured in the FBLA Express! I want to see that your hard work and dedication is recognized! All submissions can be sent to reporter@nysfbla.org and are due October 15, 2024, at 11:59 pm Eastern Time!
Hope to hear from everyone soon!
August Update
Greetings New York State FBLA! I hope everyone has had an amazing and restful summer! It is so important to give ourselves a break to enjoy life and spend time doing the things we love. I personally spent a lot of time with my family, friends, and gave my three dogs a special day on National Dogs Day on August 26! However, it is time to get back to business and begin Leading Beyond Limits, and Daring to Dream BIG!!!
First off, I would like to say thank you to all those who have read the 2024 Welcome Back Edition of the FBLA Express! I appreciate the support and recognition of my work. For those of you who have not seen it yet, please go read! It is under “The Express” tab on the NYS FBLA WEBSITE.
Also, I would also like to encourage all members to participate in NYS FBLA’s 2024 Program of Work (POW)! These challenges are designed to be fun whilst simultaneously providing the career and technical education FBLA strives to instill in its members every day. They are super rewarding, and overall, a great opportunity to get more involved in the organization. Go check it out!
I wish everyone the best of luck in their upcoming school year! I know you will all make NYS FBLA proud!!
July Update
State Officer Training (SOT) was an amazing experience that I will value for the rest of my life. I learned skills I will use in my future career and gained exposure to what it is like to be in a professional business environment. I was forced to rely on my strengths to rise to the challenges of SOT, while simultaneously being provided with a supportive and constructive environment to work on my weaknesses. Professionally, I feel like a new person. I feel ready to take on my term, and to put my best foot forward in every duty.
I had the privilege of being chairman of the Community Outreach and Engagement Committee. Working together, our committee set three objectives that will enable us to raise the level of community involvement among our members across the state. During the week, every committee member put in great effort and creativity to produce a final product that was truly outstanding. I am so beyond excited to see what New York State will do with our challenges!
Overall, my favorite part of SOT was bonding with my State Officer Team. I am so honored to be a part of this incredible team of individuals who push me to go beyond my limits. Everyone is motivated, opinionated, and possesses strengths that are all essential to the mechanics of our team structure. I cannot wait until the January Joint Meeting (JJM) when I get to work in person with them again.
The first activities of this school year include publishing the first edition of the FBLA Express. I am so thrilled to let New York State know what we have been up to at Christ the King.
SOT has reformed what FBLA means to me. It has furthered my understanding of the organization I love, while also giving me a new sense of purpose in my office of reporter. I feel my passion and enthusiasm have greatly increased, and I cannot wait to jump into the new year!
